about smartcookie
i write about what goes on in my life. i write about things i think are funny. i write nonsense. i write about bodily functions.
i have a boyfriend/husband named nathan who loves video games. we get along great. about 7% of the time. any percentage greater is purely a curious statistical anomaly.
and as our story progresses, you may wonder who i'm talking about.
aside from courageous nathan, our main characters include:
jeremy (ex-roommate.. now scranton-ite)
megan (married one and my once upon a time roommate)
sara (bf 4-eva, aka SPIFE)
hohl (eternally confusing chewing someone out with eating someone out)
oh. and i teach dance and like accounting. the end.

a huntington halloween
halloween represented in pictoral fashion (plus a few short sentences).
oh - and we had trick or treater's!! my very first halloween being on the other side of the door (although for like the past 6 or 7 i think i have not been ringing doorbells...). i actually got to pass out candy! which was weird. and caused alot of ridiculous pre-candy handing out stress. what do you say when they come to the door? is it lame if i'm wearing a costume? do you hand out the candy, or do they pick? will i have enough? what if i only get 2 kids? what if we get 90?
should i put the pumpkin on the porch (where it could catch some unsuspecting kid's cape on fire)? should they come to the front or side door (we live on the corner)? the front door is easily accessible, but has rickety stairs (lawsuit?) but the side door is harder to see if people are coming.
but i survived. here are some pictures.
the FIRST costume (this one didn't work out)
the second costume
bewitching (notice my solution to the pumpkin issue.. put it on a chair! no one was harmed during the evening - success!)
in case you didn't know, halloween / october / fall is my favorite holiday / month / season, so i've been in the autumn mood around the house! i think its time for a list.
HALLOWEENIE (i said weenie) THINGS I HAVE BEEN UP TO 1. decorating the apartment in a halloweenish setting. 2. making things with pumpkin in it - pumpkin cake, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie. mmm. 3. finding my way out of a corn maize maze*. 4. making jack'o'lanterns (inspiration). 5. making delicious ding dong spiders (inspiration). 6. hallowine mystery wine tasting tour. 7. living with a black cat.
PICTURES OF THESE THINGS (because pictures are more fun) 1-3 - no pictures. sorrry
4. nate's masterpiece (pun intended) - how am i supposed to display this??
MY PG-13 pumpkin
5. DING DONG SPIDERS
number one is an alien. he is here to eat your brains.
number two is just evil.
7. obligatory halloween cat
*yes i know that corn maize maze is redundant. i also know that when going to places where puns are so easily made (CORNy puns, i might add), you should leave nate. but i didn't follow either, so why start now?

ok, so consumerism isn't helping the environment...
...but am i allowed to want these?? you know that they would look awesome on my desk. if i ever get a job. that has a desk. but still. zoo animals + calendar = awesome.
today is blog action day, so i am reminding you that shutting off your computer for a few hours will not be the end of the world. in fact - it will probably help the world.
A LIST OF THINGS I AM DOING TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT
not turning the heat on in our apartment yet. it is like zero degrees in here. i have five layers on right now. not even an exaggeration (leotard, tank top, long sleeve shirt, furry sweatshirt, coat).
using those sweet re-usable shopping bags from wegman's. which, by the way, can hold a ton more groceries than plastic bags.
growing tomato plants.
driving my dad's hybrid because he stole my car.
A LIST OF THINGS I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BE DOING
driving 4 hours to albany to get my bike (to ride to and from s. campus... right) and then not taking it out of my car for 3 months. then driving it home again.
living a million miles from campus. (negated by hybrid car-use)
keep promising myself that i will buy those squiggly lightbulbs and then forgetting and buying the regular ones.

foundations - kate nash
kate nash! why had i never heard of her before?! i heart british singers. and apparently she's rather young (19 according to google?). also apparently lily allen is a fan of
so this is her song 'foundations' which was released in june. while it slightly bothers me when singers sing/talk about stupid things (see lyrics: "Don't want to look at your face, 'cause it's making me sick / You've gone and got sick on my trainers / only got these yesterday "), i can get over it because i love the chorus. yay new artist!
